Let me show you how to get rid of those pesky lindens burning a hole in your e-pockets! If I’m good at anything, it’s spending money. *looks at her shrinking account* A little too well.
If you’re a t-shirt and jeans kinda gal like me, you’ll dig Blacklisted’s new and improved tees! Gauge Laville, owner and designer of + Blacklisted +, has redone his latest ladies’ releases. I thought they were great before, but I think they look awesome now. So far, he’s retooled & released ‘I Herd’ (aka the drama llama shirt) and ‘Blue Lips’, with more to come soon!
What I really like is that the shirts now come in a variety of colors!
If you’re not a stranger to Mr. Laville’s work, you know that his tongue-in-cheek tees are inspired by songs/videos, and he includes a link to them in a notecard with each release.
Gauge is probably going to kill me, but the shirts above: coming soon!
The cool necklace I’m wearing is from Lolapop!, a fun store that specializes in kawaii/goth, unique, affordable jewelry, tattoos, piercings and various other cute items. The Lola in Lolapop! has released several new items, including the necklace that I’m wearing in the picture above called ‘Broken & Bleeding’.
Yes, I’m all about quickies. Sometimes they’re just…appropriate. Anyway, I’ve got some goodies that are aching to be shown!
Exile’s newest release, Amelia, is so freaking cute. I had to wipe my mouth a few times when Kavar & Brandy posted teaser pics on plurk. Yes, it’s THAT drool-worthy! Fun, sassy and sophisticated!
The necklace is the Fifty Linden Friday offering from HoD (Haus of Darcy). Cute, ain’t it? Grab this cute necklace while you can!
Finally, Poetic Colors, one of my favorite eye places, has some awesome freebie eyes in it’s main store, called Aurora.
There you have it. I’ve blah blah blahed about new stuff: one freebie, one steeply discounted (for a limited time) and one full priced item, all of which are superb examples of SL content creators at their finest. Thank Lano, Aydan & Kavar for making our Second Lives prettier, one avatar at a time.
Sometimes the best thing to do when you hear bad news is to keep yourself busy so you don’t have to think about it. Second Life is about forgetting your troubles in real life and immersing yourself into a virtual world where you can get lost among pixels. I think, however, that no matter what I do in-world or out-world, this bad news is going to follow me. I got a call this morning that a good friend of mine from work passed away. He was only 38. I didn’t get the details of his death, but an autopsy is going to be performed. What breaks my heart is that he had been diagnosed with leukemia about a year ago. Since he was always in one of my courts, we had a few “friendraisers” that would be held at his house while he was out from work. We’d go over and have mini-pep rallies to boost his spirit and to show that just because he wasn’t at work with us, that we hadn’t forgotten him. We’d also take donations and get his family gift cards to the local grocery store, H-E-B, since he was on long-term disability (which only pays, I think, 60% of what their total income is), and his wife had taken some leave as well, so they were on budget constraints. After months of getting poked, prodded and whatnot, he returned to work in September with the wonderful news that he was in remission. I remember when he sent me a text that said simply, “Remission! I beat it!” My eyes filled with tears of thanks to God that He held my friend’s hand as he walked that long journey to recovery. That he was now able to spend more time with his kids. That he was able to return to the job he loved, making my life — and those he came in contact with on a daily basis — a little bit brighter. Hector, though you were not a part of my Second Life, you were a large part of my first life. I will miss that goofy, mischievous smile, that sunny twinkle in your eye. What I won’t miss is your crazy-ass driving (when we’d go to lunch and he’d drive, I’d say a quick prayer before sliding into the passenger seat), LOL! You led a good life, full of friends and family. You were a true and loyal friend. Thank you for always believing in me and having my back!
With that, I think it’s interesting (and appropriate) that yesterday, I took pictures at the sim Life Is Good, which I thought was supposed to close on January 15th but as of January 16th is still open. The theme of the Life Is Good sim? Enjoying yourself, which is exactly what I did. Surf Couture, whose store is on the Artilleri sim, has a great variety of well-made and very reasonably priced attire. If you’ve never heard of it, please do yourself a favor and go there now! Didn’t see the other link to the store? HERE IT IS! Anyway, Emma Gilmour, the creative brains behind Surf Co., uses wonderful textures with her creations, so there’s never going to be an issue of poorly made clothing. They’re bright, well put together and just fun!
Life is good when you’re having fun. Here I am goofing off in some of Surf Couture’s newest items: the Belmar Skinny Jeans in Dark Blue and the Slouchy Thread Sweater in Blue Floral. On a side note, check out how nicely the sweater enhances my rack from the newest RockBerry skin, Jules!
Sometimes…you just need to sit down, soak in all the beauty of the world that is surrounding you…and give thanks that you were given another day to love, laugh and enjoy yourself. We tend to take life for granted. I know that I am guilty of that.
Life isn’t always easy. Sometimes you’ll find yourself in a bad situation. At the time, you may think, “this is the worst possible thing to ever happen to me!” You might think it’s hopeless. You’re stronger than you think. Just hold on tight and remember that you have friends and family that will catch you when you fall. Here I am, hanging for dear life wearing some more new releases from Surf Co — the Rendezvous V-Neck Sweater in Orange and the previously mentioned Belmar Skinny Jeans, but this time in Original Dark.
When you’re overwhelmed, I find meditation is a wonderful stress reliever. We all have so much going on in our lives, it’s good to just relax in the quiet and think positive, calming thoughts or reflect in prayer. Was someone mean to you? Don’t hate — meditate!
If you think the new Surf Couture releases are cute, check out the older items in the store as well! Emma Gilmour is a very talented artist with a flair for fashion. I’m expecting big things from this flourishing fashion house! Below I’m wearing the Little Bit Country shirt, which finds itself in my regular rotation.
Now you’ve seen his face
And you know that there’s a place
In the sun
For all that you’ve done
For you and your children
No longer shall you need
You always wanted to believe
Just ask and you’ll receive
Beyond your wildest dreams
There was a time when I was happy. I used to be the center of a special girl’s world. I belonged to a seven year old child named Greta. I was given to her as a present for her seventh birthday by her grandfather, who commissioned my maker to create me. When Greta first laid eyes on me, after tearing the wrapping from my box, her wide eyes were filled with awe and wonder. I knew that we would be best friends. For one reason or another, Greta’s mother never cared much for me. Once I was taken home, after my debut at her grandfather’s house, Greta’s mother whisked me away and planted me in a display case, telling Greta that I “was not for playing.”
Greta’s father, however, promptly took me out of the case and back to my owner, explaining that his father wanted Greta to enjoy me, much to her mother’s dismay. To compromise, her parents agreed that I should remain in my display box when I was not being played with, which wasn’t all that often.
Her mother took great pleasure in keeping me away from Greta at every opportunity. My owner would take me out of my display box. She would brush my hair, ever so gently. Change my clothes. Change them again. Her favorite outfits for me were the ballerina ones.
We used to have so much fun! Greta would carry me around everywhere — the breakfast table, the park where she’d show me off to all of her friends who glowed with envy, to Church on Sundays, to the dinner table, back to her room where she was told to do her homework but had me doing pirouettes instead, and finally, to bed, where in her dreams, we danced together. When she went off to school, her mother would pick me up off of her bed, give me a contemptuous look before banishing me once more to the display case. Every weekday, I counted down the hours until Greta’s return, so I could be free once more and enjoy our time together.
Her mother increasingly became annoyed when Greta would retrieve me from the display case. Her eyes would narrow from behind the cup of tea she sipped from as Greta’s eager hands wrapped themselves around my middle and crushed me against her chest in a relieved hug.
“Why don’t you go outside and play with your friends — and leave the doll in here!” she’d yell after her daughter. One day, Greta finally did what her mother requested, and I was placed back into the display case by my owner. Her mother stared at me from across the room with a smug look on her face.
As the years went on, her mother’s wish came true. I was being played with less and less. I could not understand it. The sparkle that was once in Greta’s eyes were now gone. I had been replaced by ‘real’ friends whom she talked to about boys, clothes and other girls. I could not understand what I had done. Was she upset with me? I thought that she loved me. The final kick was when she referred to me as ‘a dumb doll my grandfather gave me as a child’ when one of her friends teased her about my presence in her room.
As she’s grown older and bored with me, I fear that I will be in this display case for the rest of my life, reliving the good times when someone still loved me.
Welcome back, Naughty. I had been wondering what happened to you. When I first started out in SL — and met my first pervert — I bought my first ever skin from Naughty, thanks to said pervert. I was a week old and when I put that Alina skin on, I went from scary noob to hot bish. Back then, Naughty was *THE* place to get skin and hair. It had been a while since I had gone to the Naughty sim, so when my friend Oscar told me that they had new stuff, it piqued my interest. I liked what I saw.
New jeans, tops, mocassins.
Most of the stuff has an artsy, nouveau bohemian-type feel to them. From the lightly frayed jeans to the sweetly patterned tops to the mocassins, they all look vintage-y but with a crispness to them.
New top.
As far as selection, there is enough for the small boutique, but not a huge store. This is just the beginning, though. I think the new releases are to whet our appetites and to leave us wanting more. Well, good job. I cannot wait to see what else Naughty has up their sleeves.
Mocassins!
As far as the mocassins go, I was a bit apprehensive at first, but I decided to give in to temptation and purchase them. How many times have we bought something that looks great in ads but looks like (for lack of a better term) utter crap when we put them on? I’m glad I gave it. I LOVE these! Best $300L I’ve spent on boots. Highly detailed, these are show-stoppers. They come in four colors and two different styles (short or long). I am tempted to go back and buy more of these babies.
Morrigan Denimore never ceases to amaze me. The owner and designer of The Black Canary is not only a workaholic that consistently cranks out beautiful clothing for both men and women, he’s also a gentleman. Mild mannered and humble, Morrigan politely laughs off praise he receives from those that flock to his store when word gets out that he has a new release.
Usually, with reviews, I stay in my photoglobe and take pictures. I decided to do something *slightly* different. I went to a sim that someone who is very dear to me recently whisked me away to. It’s beautifully decorated for winter. Enjoy the pictures. If you like what you see, stop over to Mr. Denimore’s store and take a peek at all of the beautiful Victorian/goth designs he’s created.
Cherubim.
The outfit comes with the dress, gloves (complete with fur), the hat, a stomach bow and the mantle (the stole that I have around my shoulders). Every article of clothing is made with excruciating detail (which is obvious when you look at the outfits).
The holidays always brings us gorgeous dresses. For some reason, this time of year inspires lots of designers to make, not necessarily holiday-themed dresses, but just really gorgeous ones. Maybe because of all of the holiday parties that go on around this time of year? The pretty dresses just gives me yet another reason to love the Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa/Eid season.
Ingenue has some very festive, newly released dresses that are cute and retro (would you expect anything less from Ingenue?). They are $250L each and worth every penny! Be sure to check out the store for other awesome retro clothing, including the sale item (changes weekly)!
'Sabrina' by Ingenue in 'fir' (green) & 'Santa's hat' (red).
'Sabrina' by Ingenue in 'Stoke of midnight' (black) & 'Twinkling lights' (gold).
Speaking of new releases and pretty dresses, Musashi Do has come out with a very lovely set of dresses called ‘Brocade Princess’, which comes in six colors. The gloves are included. Be sure to check out Musashi Do’s other items, you won’t be disappointed!

The lovely necklace I’m wearing in all of the pictures comes from Otaku Designs and it’s absolutely perfect for the season. Lovely, delicate snowflakes adorn this cute necklace. It’s on sale at Otaku Designs’ new location at Hodgepodge Mall’s new sim and is only $50L! Get it while you can at this great price. Be sure to look around at the other specially priced items around the store!
Necklace by Otaku Designs, hair by Exile.
Hair from Exile…is one of my main weaknesses. I’d say this is their newest release, but Kavar is a workaholic and has already come out with *more* styles since this hair was released last week. Gotta love Kavar’s work! The skin I’m wearing in the last seven pictures comes from Black&Blue Outfitters. It’s a new-to-me store and I definitely liked what I saw! You may like their skins as well, so I encourage you to grab a few demos!
Dick Wiesel (gotta love that name!), the owner and designer of WoE, just released some pajamas for men and women, and they are really cute. The pajama bottoms are plaid, which are perfect for the winter season that is upon us, and each set comes with a tank top. If you’ve never been to WoE, let me tell you a little bit about it. Dick’s store has nicely detailed casual wear (tops, jeans) for both men and women that is moderately priced, so you don’t break the Linden bank. Dick even has a couple of tattoos that are worth checking out.
When I put these pajamas on, I immediately felt a great warmth. Why? Because, as embarrassing as it is, I was wearing something identical in real life. I think that’s why the pajamas work, because most people really wear clothing like this to bed or to lounge around the house in on a lazy Sunday. As I said before, Dick released pajamas for both men AND women. I have two women’s pj’s and two men’s pj’s…but I’m so lazy (it *IS* a lazy Sunday, after all), I am wearing the men’s pj’s as a chick. And you know what? They work. His pj’s are so versatile.

As I’m sure you can see, the main difference between the male pajamas and the female pajamas lies in the tank tops. Ladies, we get to show off our nipples! This is sure to make your man want to snuggle with you. The girls’ tank features different levels of sheerness. You can always add or subtract layers (undershirt, shirt, jacket), depending on your mood. The guys’ tank tops come in tucked and untucked. In the pictures above and below, you can see that we (the ladies) can get away with wearing the mens’ pajamas, and they’re a great option if you don’t want to show off your headlights. The pant cuffs are a little bigger than the womens’, but I don’t think it’s a big deal.
Laying around in the grey pajamas.
Laying about in my yellow mens' pajamas.
Mid-yawn in my maroon, dude's pj's.
Sittin' pretty in my red pajamas. Is it cold in here?
These pajamas are on sale now at WoE for $250 a pop or $1500L for the fatpack. If you get the fatpack, you’ll also get two additional colors that cannot be bought separate, so that’s an incentive to getting it! Be sure to head over to the store to check out all of the goodies for sale…and you better hit the subscribo to stay updated on future sales and releases!
I’ve been a good girl this year. Want proof? I’ve been getting showered with all kinds of goodies! From apparel to jewelry to hair to skins…and what with the various hunts going on, my poor inventory diet is going out the window.
First up are the awesome new ladies’ t-shirt releases from the infamous + blacklisted +. Thanks to his quirky and risque sense of humor, you can now own some more of Gauge Laville’s top quality tees that’ll make people zoom into your chest area even more than they already do.
Pictured below is one of the new shirts, called ‘I like’ (in moss)
It's like playing pictionary with your pixel bewbs!
+ blacklisted + has some awesome clothes for men and women, as well as poses & original artwork by Empty Inkpen. (Hint: see some trash laying around the store? Pick it up — there’s a trash-themed hunt going on at the Starlust sims!)
Exile is one of my favorite hair stores! Kavar Cleanslate offers up stylish, whispy, beautifully-crafted hair for the ladies as well as smoking hot styles for the guys. Mr. Cleanslate turns regular prims into works of art! His two newest releases are just gorgeous and they’re very versatile. Wear them dressed up OR down.
Along with the hair, I’m wearing some new facial piercings by Haus of Darcy, owned by Aydan Darcy. She’s new to the whole SL content creator biz, but she’s off to a great start! Her stuff is cute, fun and well made!
'Leilani' by Exile and jewelry by House of Darcy.
The hair is dreamy — I fell in love immediately with it’s romantic style. The necklace from HoD is really cool — the charm is shaped like a small polaroid picture and you can add your own texture to it! Add your lover, bestest friend, a group shot or heck, even a pic of yourself (if you feel so inclined).
'Kendra' by Exile & Stakes Are High necklace by Otaku Designs
Closer look at the Stakes Are High necklace by Otaku Designs
Exile’s ‘Kendra’ is a longer hairstyle that, well, the best way to describe it would be…sweet and lovely. Long luscious locks cascade over your shoulders, framing your face. So pretty!
The necklace I’m wearing in the last two pictures is the Skipping Stones hunt gift from Otaku Designs. Being a poker lover, I fell in love with the necklace. Owner/designer Lola79 Hienrichs always puts her heart and soul into each piece of jewelry she makes. Every item is lovingly crafted by hand by her. Not only are her gift and hunt items high quality, but her full priced ones are as well.

**Note: Otaku Designs’ main store has moved to the new Hodgepodge aka HoPo sim. It’ll be open this weekend, so be patient!**
I love gorgeous Fantasy/Medieval gowns. I guess one of the mains reasons why I like them so much is because when you’re running around the grid in one, there’s a romantic air about you. It helps to transport you into a, well, romantic time, when girls wore flowy, dreamy gowns to balls at the local castle. LOL. I think maybe I’ve watched ‘Ever After’ once too often, perhaps?
Anyhoo, these gowns were given to me by Miss Morgaine Price, owner and designer of Mer-Elf Creations, a new-to-me store that sells clothing for witches, mermaids, princesses and the like. Interested? You should be. Go give her store a look-see! Now, let me show you the goods!
